Ghewar is a traditional Rajasthani disc-shaped sweet with a crisp, honeycomb texture, made from flour, ghee and sugar syrup. At Noida Sweets & Bakers in Supertech EcoVillage-1, we make ghewar fresh through the monsoon and festival season — plain, malai (rabri-topped) and kesar (saffron) — for Teej, Sawan and Raksha Bandhan across Greater Noida. Also spelt ghevar, this Rajasthani classic is made fresh in Greater Noida West through Sawan — in pure desi ghee, the traditional way.

What is ghewar?

Ghewar is a porous, honeycomb-like disc made by pouring a thin flour-and-ghee batter into hot ghee, then soaking it in sugar syrup. It is most associated with the monsoon month of Sawan and the festivals of Teej and Raksha Bandhan in North India and Rajasthan. The texture is its signature — light and lacy, crisp at the edges and syrup-soaked through the middle.

When is ghewar in season?

Ghewar is a seasonal sweet. Demand peaks during Sawan (the monsoon month) and around Teej and Raksha Bandhan, usually July and August. We prepare fresh ghewar through this window, and it is traditionally gifted to daughters and sisters during Sinjara and Rakhi. Outside the season, ghewar can be pre-ordered subject to availability.

Our ghewar varieties

1 kg serves 8–10 people; half-kg boxes also available at the counter. Home delivery across Greater Noida West — Gaur City, Ace City, EcoVillage, Noida Extension — on WhatsApp.

  • Plain ghewar — classic syrup-soaked disc, lightly sweet.
  • Malai ghewar — topped with thickened rabri/malai and dry fruits, the most popular for gifting.
  • Kesar ghewar — finished with saffron for colour and aroma.

Ingredients and allergens

Our ghewar is made from refined wheat flour (maida), pure ghee and sugar, with milk-based rabri on malai ghewar and a garnish of pistachios and almonds. It contains milk, tree nuts and wheat (gluten). It is pure vegetarian and made without egg. If you have a nut or dairy allergy, please tell us when ordering.

For Rakhi and Teej, order a day or two ahead so we can prepare it fresh, and a few days ahead for bulk or gift boxes. We pack ghewar in sturdy boxes for gifting and deliver across Greater Noida, Noida Extension and Gaur City. Call or WhatsApp +91 73038 96500 to confirm variety, quantity and delivery date.

Freshness and storage

Plain ghewar keeps well at room temperature for 2–3 days. Malai and kesar ghewar contain fresh rabri and should be refrigerated and enjoyed within 24–48 hours. Add the malai topping just before serving for the crispest bite.

“Ghewar is the taste of Sawan for North Indian families. We fry every disc to a clean honeycomb and soak it the same day, so it reaches you crisp — never soggy.”
